VIRGIN ISLANDS WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES CONTINUATION OF REGULARY SCHEDULED OPERATIONS

 

(U.S. Virgin Islands) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) informs the public that all facilities and services remain operational today. The St. John Susannaberg Transfer Station, St. Thomas Bovoni, and the St. Croix Anguilla Landfills are open to the community. In addition, the St. Croix “House to House” trash pick-up operations continue as scheduled.

 

The VIWMA will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Residents are encouraged to exercise caution while traversing roads and public spaces.

VIWMA STT, STJ LANDFILLS AND HOUSE TO HOUSE OPERATIONS NORMAL- STX LANDFILL CLOSED

(U.S. Virgin Islands) The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) would like to inform the community that due to hazardous weather conditions, the Anguilla Landfill will be closed until further notice. The St. Thomas Bovoni and the St. John Susannaberg Landfills and all Virgin Islands Transfer Stations are operational. The St. Croix “House to House” trash pick-up operations are on schedule.

 

Updates will be provided throughout the day, and we ask the community to traverse all areas with extreme caution.

VIWMA SCHEDULED TO PERFORM PUMP SEWER PIPE LATERAL INSTALLATION

 

(St. Croix – U.S. Virgin Islands) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) would like to inform the community that on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, a sewer pipe lateral installation will take place at #33-E Two Brothers, Frederiksted, St. Croix.

 

On the day of installation, vehicular traffic, including service vehicles, will be limited to one lane on Percy Gardine Ave. Traffic in the vicinity of #33-E Two Brothers, Frederiksted, will be directed by VIWMA employees overseeing the installation.

 

Motorists are encouraged to slow down when driving near the installation site.

 

The VIWMA apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to maintain and improve the territory’s wastewater infrastructure.

VIWMA SCHEDULED TO PERFORM PUMP STATION REPAIRS

 

(St. Thomas, USVI) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) informs the community that there is a continued reduction in sewage flow in the downtown area. Repairs are scheduled to be performed today, August 22, 2025, between 6:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. at the Cancryn Bridge bypass pump located on Veterans Drive. During this period, the Authority advises the motoring public that the left lane headed east will be closed. Motorists are asked to please drive slowly and remain attentive to the road crew or any personnel directing traffic.

Residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid standing water in the affected areas.
