LBJ PUMP STATION TEMPORARILY OFF-LINE

 

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) informs the community that the LBJ Pump Station is currently offline due to mechanical issues, which may result in potential manhole overflows in the Christiansted area.

 

VIWMA advises residents to avoid standing water in the affected areas, as VIWMA staff and contractors work diligently to complete the repairs.

(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) informs the community of a collapsed sewer line between Banco Popular Altona Branch and the Cancryn Pump Station. This situation is causing sewer system issues in the downtown area, which may result in potential manhole overflows.

 

VIWMA advises residents to avoid standing water in the affected areas. The VIWMA staff is working diligently to complete the necessary repairs. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and rely on your cooperation as we resolve this matter.

HOUSE-TO-HOUSE WASTE COLLECTION ON ST. CROIX DELAYED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

 

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) informs the community of delays in house-to-house waste collection in the following areas due to inclement weather:

  • Estate Grove
  • Estate Plessen
  • Estate Cane (Behind of the Sunshine Mall)
  • Mount Pleasant
  • Paradise
  • Frederiksted Town
  • Adventure
  • Diamond West

Collection services for these areas are expected to be completed as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and rely on your cooperation as we are working to resume our regular service schedule.

VIWMA COMMERCIAL TIPPING FEE INCREASE TO BEGIN JANUARY 1, 2025

 

(Virgin Islands) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) announces an increase of the commercial Solid Waste tipping fee to $6.25/cubic yard beginning January 1, 2025.

 

Solid Waste Tipping Fees are mandated by the Virgin Island Public Services Commission and are assessed at solid waste facilities around the world to recover the cost of managing solid waste processing and disposal sites. The VIWMA Tipping Fees are used to help pay for the cost of waste disposal (i.e., operations, equipment purchases, environmental monitoring costs, etc.).

 

Tipping Fees are assessed at the three VIWMA disposal facilities: the Anguilla Landfill located on St. Croix, the Bovoni Landfill on St. Thomas, and the Susannaberg Transfer Station on St. John.
