(U.S. Virgin Islands) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) would like to inform the community of its operating hours for Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday:

VIWMA RESCHEDULES TERRITORY-WIDE TOWN HALL MEETINGS

 

(U.S. Virgin Islands) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) will host a series of town hall meetings across the territory to engage residents in open dialogue on key waste management initiatives as follows:

 

  • Croix: Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Alfredo Andrews Elementary School Auditorium in Estate Kingshill, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Thomas/St. John: Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Omar Brown, Sr. Fire Station Conference Room, in Estate Ross Taarneberg, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

These meetings will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about and discuss several important topics, including the territory-wide construction of Convenience Centers, the transition to standardized trash carts, wastewater and solid waste fees, efforts to address illegal dumping, and other critical waste management initiatives.

 

Community input is essential as VIWMA works toward creating a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Virgin Islands. Residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, share concerns, and offer feedback that will help guide future planning and decision-making.

 

VIWMA looks forward to collaborating with the community to develop effective, long-term solutions that benefit everyone and appreciates the public’s continued participation and support.

ESTATES WILLIAMS DELIGHT WEST AND CANE SCHEDULED FOR AFTERNOON HOUSE-TO-HOUSE TRASH COLLECTION

 

(St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) would like to inform the residents of Estate Williams Delight West and Estate Cane that trash collection will occur today, January 7, 2026, starting at approximately 4:00 p.m.  

 

Residents are reminded to properly secure all household waste and place it at designated collection points to ensure smooth, efficient collection.  

 

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work together to maintain clean and healthy neighborhoods.

VIWMA INVITES COMMUNITY TO TERRITORY-WIDE TOWN HALL MEETINGS

 

(U.S. Virgin Islands) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) will host town hall meetings across the territory on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, on St. Thomas/St. John at the Public Services Commission Office in Barbel Plaza. On Thursday, January 15, 2026, the meeting will take place on St. Croix at the Alfredo Andrews Elementary School; both meetings will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

VIWMA ANNOUNCES REOPENING OF ANGUILLA LANDFILL ON ST. CROIX

 

(St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) informs the community that the Anguilla Landfill, which was closed on Friday, January 2, 2026, due to a fire incident, has reopened today, Saturday, January 3, 2026. The fire has since been extinguished, and normal operations will resume at regular hours.

 

VIWMA would like to express its gratitude to the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services and its staff for their prompt response, dedication, and coordinated efforts in managing the situation.

 

The Authority apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure and thanks the community for their patience and understanding.
