VIWMA WARNS AGAINST ILLEGAL DUMPING OF MOTOR OIL

(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) wants to inform the community about the unfortunate illegal dumping activity near the Krum Bay Dock in Subbase St. Thomas.

Last week, the VIWMA team cleaned up approximately 60 gallons of illegally discarded used motor oil from the area. Illegal dumping is against the law, and violators are subject to a fine of not less than $1,000 and/or 180 days imprisonment.

Residents are reminded that used oil can be disposed of properly, free of charge, at the Bovoni Landfill on St. Thomas, the Anguilla Landfill on St. Croix, and the Susannaberg Transfer Station on St. John.

Illegal dumping poses significant environmental risks. VIWMA advises the community to ensure that all waste is disposed of correctly to protect and preserve the Virgin Islands.

The VIWMA remains dedicated to providing reliable services and appreciates the community's ongoing support.

To report illegal dumping or other waste-related violations, please contact the VIWMA Enforcement Director, Anderson Poleon, at (340) 715-4961 or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
