VIWMA PROVIDES UPDATE ON BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP WITH VEOLIA

The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) has had a long working relationship with Veolia. The Authority regrets the public position that Veolia has taken in recent weeks, particularly in light of the significant payment the VIWMA has made to Veolia, without condition in March of this year.

Upon Veolia’s request to transition operations back to the Waste Management Authority, we began evaluating our options for the successful operation of the St. Croix and St. Thomas contracted wastewater treatment facilities which will result in a large cost savings for the Authority. The Waste Management Authority successfully operates its six other facilities without the use of a third-party vendor.

The VIWMA Preserving Paradise Team continues to work diligently to provide reliable services to the people of the Virgin Islands and would like to thank the community for their continued support.
