Press Releases

(St. John, USVI) The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA or “Authority”) Preserving Paradise Team advises residents on St. John who utilize the residential bin site located at the Supreme Corner, the site will be permanently closed effective July 3, 2020.  Area residents are encouraged to dispose their household trash at the Grunwald, Bethany or Pastory bin sites.  The Authority will remove the Supreme Corner bin and clean up the area.

The Authority reminds residents and businesses that only household waste can be disposed of at public bin sites. It is illegal for any business to dispose their commercial waste at pubic bin sites. Business owners must employ a permitted hauler to collect and dispose their waste. Violations are subject to a fine of $1,000 or 180 days in jail.

The way local businesses and residents dispose their waste affects the beauty of our islands. Remember, “Its’ our home! Lets’ keep it clean!” To report illegal dumping, call our hotline at 844-WMA-USVI (844-962-8784).

The VIWMA Preserving Paradise team apologizes for any inconvenience the closure of this bin site may cause and would like to thank the community in advance for their cooperation.
