(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (“VIWMA” or “Authority”) Preserving Paradise team announces the Mandahl Convenience Center will be closed on Wednesday, September 2 for scheduled maintenance. The facility will reopen on at 6 am Thursday, September 3 until 4 pm.

We apologize for any inconvenience this one-day closure may cause.

Please be reminded, the Authority remains on an abbreviated schedule for solid waste disposal due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Landfills, convenience centers and the transfer station hours of operations have been adjusted to minimize contact between our staff and the public, to reduce the possibility of community spread. The adjusted hours are:

• Anguilla Landfill, St. Croix 6:00 am to - 2:30 pm
• Bovoni Landfill, St. Thomas 6:00 am to - 2:30 pm
• Susannaberg Transfer Station, St. John - 7:00 am to 2:30 pm
• Peter’s Rest Convenience Center, St. Croix - 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
• Mandahl Convenience Center, St. Thomas - 6:00 am to 4:00 pm

(US Virgin Islands) August 23, 2020 - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA or “Authority”) Preserving Paradise team advises the community and solid waste haulers that the Anguilla Landfill on St. Croix remains closed due to deteriorated road conditions inside the facility caused by the recent passage of Tropical Storm Laura.

The Susannaberg Transfer Station on St. John has resumed normal operations. The St. Thomas Bovoni Landfill continued its’ normal operations through the storm and remain open to the public.

Haulers on St. Croix are asked to hold all municipal solid waste. The Authority will continue to provide updates as conditions improve. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their continued patience and cooperation.

Both the Susannaberg Transfer Station on St. John and the St. Thomas Bovoni Landfill are operating normally following the passage of Tropical Storm Laura.

(St. Croix, VI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) Preserving Paradise team advises the community that its main office located at Estate Glynn is currently without telephone service due to a Water and Power Authority (WAPA) electrical interruption.

While WAPA is currently working to restore power to the area, St. Croix residents are asked to contact our St. Thomas office at 340-715-9100 if assistance is needed or for emergencies contact the VIWMA hotline at 844-962-8784 (WMA-USVI).
