CHRISTIANSTED SEWER LINE REPLACEMENT AND MANHOLE REHABILIATION PROJECT MANHOLE INSPECTION

 

(St. Croix, USVI) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that on Monday, April 13, 2026, the manholes in the town of Christiansted will be inspected. While the manhole inspections are being performed, vehicular traffic will not be allowed in the streets of Christiansted. Traffic detours will occur as follows:

 

Manhole Inspection in King Street and West Street

 

Entering Christiansted via Northside Road (Richmond Post Office)/Contentment Road:

Northside Road (Richmond Post Office)/Contentment Road going to Basin Triangle Intersection and going east towards Jiffy Mart/Anglican Church:

1. Take the left-hand turn on West Street (Street before the Anglican Church) and continue north to Watergut Street (Valmy Thomas Sport Shop/West Street/Watergut intersection)
2. Turn right on Watergut Street, going towards the Seaborne terminal or King Cross Street (going south towards the Government Parking Lot)

 

Manhole Inspection in King Street {Entire Street Will be Closed at Market Street (Time Square) to Hospital Street}:

 

Into Christiansted and going to Gallows Bay commercial areas (Port Terminal/Post Office/Hardware Store/Marshall & Sterling) via King Street/Market Street (Time Square) Intersection:

1. Take the right-hand turn on Market Street and continue south to East Street
2. Turn left on East Street and continue east to Hospital Street
3. Turn right on Hospital Street and continue to the Gallows Bay commercial area

 

Into Christiansted and going to the Government Parking Lot (King Cross Street/Watergut Street) via Northside Road (Richmond Post Office)/Contentment Road, going to Basin Triangle Intersection and going east towards Jiffy Mart/Anglican Church:

1. Take the left-hand turn on West Street (Street before the Anglican Church) and continue north to Watergut Street (Valmy Thomas Sport Shop/West Street/Watergut intersection)
2. Turn right on Watergut Street, going towards the Seaborne terminal or King Cross Street (going south towards the Government Parking Lot)

 

Out of Christiansted via Company Street and Queen Street. There will be no vehicular traffic at the following intersections:

1. King Street/Queen Cross Street
2. King Street/King Cross Street
3. King Street/Prince Street

 

Motorists are advised to reduce their speed in areas with road barricades and flagmen present. The VIWMA staff apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the community's patience and cooperation.
