Division of Education and Communications Management

  • The Division of Education and Communications Management (DECM) plays a critical role within the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, as it serves as the voice of the Authority. Its primary functions are to provide internal and external communications.

  •

On a day-to-day basis, DECM develops program specific messages for the public, handles all media relations, issues press releases, develops advertisements, flyers and brochures, produces Public Service Announcements (PSAs), radio and television spots, and responds to information requests from a variety of sources.  It is also responsible for the image branding of the Authority.

  •

The divisions’ team of Environmental Educators (EE’s) are tasked with implementing a Master Education Plan that encompasses various resources that will be shared with the community via the Authority’s website and media platforms. EE’s are considered the backbone of the division.  They are at the forefront of  promoting the importance of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling as well as proper waste management in our community. They conduct and support outreach initiatives for businesses, government agencies, community groups, and schools.
