VIWMA GALLOWS BAY OFFICE TEMPORARILY CLOSED

 

(ST. CROIX, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that the Gallows Bay Office will be closed for the remainder of the day due to maintenance issues. Normal business hours will resume on Friday, October 05, 2018.

 


St. Croix residents are asked to contact the St. Thomas office at 340-715-9100 if assistance is needed.

VIWMA TEAM RESTPRES SERVICE TO LBJ PUMP STATION

 

(ST. CROIX, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that the LBJ Pump Station returned to service on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 5:12pm after corrective actions were taken.

 


The VIWMA would like to thank its contractors and staff for their teamwork and commitment to getting the job done. The Authority advises motorists to use caution while traveling in the vicinity of #1 King Cross Street (Angry Nates).

VIWMA TEAM MONITORING ANGUILLA LANDFILL FIRE THAT IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONTROL

 

(ST. CROIX, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA or Authority) Preserving Paradise team advises the community of an active fire at the Anguilla Landfill that was reported at 3:30am on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

 

The Virgin Islands Fire Service and VIWMA contractors have worked to bring the fire under control and will continue to monitor the situation. The VIWMA will provide updates on any changes that may affect the public and haulers from utilizing the Solid Waste Facility.

 

The Authority will also continue to provide updates regarding changes that may affect public health and the environment.

VIWMA ANGUILLA LANDFILL FIRE EXTINGUISHED

 

(ST. CROIX, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that the Anguilla Landfill fire has been extinguished. The Virgin Islands Fire Service (VIFS), VIWMA contractors and personnel concluded fire suppression activities on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.


The VIWMA will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates on any changes that may affect public health and the environment.

VIWMA TEAM WORKING TO REPAIR TEMPORARILY OFF-LINE LBJ PUMP STATION

 

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) Preserving Paradise team advises the community that on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 9:53am, the LBJ Pump Station went off-line due to mechanical and electrical failure. The Authority’s contract partners and staff are working to place a spare pump into service.

 

The Authority advises residents with compromised immune systems to avoid standing water in the vicinity of #1 King Cross and Queen Streets. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route around this potentially impacted area.
