(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (“VIWMA” or “Authority”) Preserving Paradise team and contractors are working diligently to address overflowing manholes on Nadir road in the vicinity of the Clinton Phipps Racetrack. The Authority advises residents to avoid standing water and overflow in the impacted area.

Normal flow of the sewer line has been restricted due to a blockage caused by grease and debris, resulting in the overflow.  Contractors began cleaning the area and performing corrective action as of Wednesday, July 15. The repairs are expected to be completed within two weeks. The motoring public is advised to traverse the area with caution or consider the use of alternate routes as traffic flow may be reduced to one lane.
