ANGUILLA LANDFILL REMAINS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (‘VIWMA” or “Authority”) Preserving Paradise team advises the community the St. Croix Anguilla Landfill remains closed to the public following an active fire that was reported at 8:04 pm, Friday, June 12. The fire was suppressed by the Virgin Islands Fire Service (VIFS) along with VIWMA staff and contractors at 7:14 pm, Saturday, June 13.

 

Solid waste haulers are advised that municipal solid waste shall be received at the landfill from public bin sites and house to house collections only.  Drivers are asked to follow directions provided by VIWMA personnel and contractors. Failure to comply shall result in temporary suspension of disposal privileges; your safety is of the utmost importance.  

 

The Authority will inform the public on the resumption of normal operations. We will continue to provide updates as the situation changes.
