VIWMA ANGUILLA LANDFILL FIRE EXTINGUISHED ALLOWING LANDFILL OPERATIONS TO RESUME

 

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (“VIWMA” or“Authority”) Preserving Paradise team advises the community that the Anguilla Landfillfire has been extinguished. The V.I. Fire Service (VIFS), VIWMA contractors andpersonnel concluded fire suppression activities on Monday, June 24, 2019.

 

Normal operations at the Anguilla Landfill resumed today, Tuesday June 25, 2019;operating hours are until 4:00 p.m.

 

Trucks will be monitored at the landfill; thus, the Authority is asking drivers to be patientwith the disposal of waste. This process will cause some delays. Haulers are remindedto exercise extreme caution to help ensure the safety of all.

 

The VIWMA would like to thank the VIFS, VIPA, contractors and staff for their teamworkand commitment to getting the job done. We appreciate your dedication.
