VIWMA ADVISES COMMUNITY OF ACTIVE FIRE AT THE ST. CROIX TRANSFER STATION

 

 

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (‘VIWMA” or “Authority”) Preserving Paradise team advises the community of an active fire at the St. Croix Transfer Station which was reported at approximately 4:20pm today, Sunday, June 23, 2019.

 

 

The Virgin Islands Fire Service, Virgin Islands Port Authority, VIWMA contractors and personnel are currently working to suppress the fire.

 

 

It is recommended that residents with respiratory disorders/conditions shelter in place to minimize exposure to smoke as wind directions change. The Authority will continue to provide updates regarding changes that may affect public health and haulers utilizing the Transfer Station.
