(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (‘VIWMA” or “Authority”) Preserving Paradise Team advises the community of the closure and clean-up of the DIY Used Oil Center located at Anna’s Retreat (Department of Public Works) and Estate Concordia (Concordia Bin Site). Used motor and cooking oil will no longer be accepted at these sites.

Due to the abundance of accumulated used oil and the continued illegal disposal of cooking oil, cleanup and closure was deemed necessary. The Authority will relocate the used motor oil igloos to the Peter’s Rest Convenience Center (PRCC).

Residents are reminded that disposal is limited to used motor oil, solely; used motor oil disposal at the PRCC will be limited to three (3) gallons per month/family. While we work diligently to relocate the DIY site, the Authority is asking residents to temporarily hold used motor oil.

Businesses are reminded to secure private collection service for the removal and disposal of all waste, used motor and cooking oil included, from establishments in accordance with Title 19, Chapter 56 VI Code. Businesses and/or residents found in violation of the Territories’ codes and associated rules and regulations are subject to a fine of not less than $1,000 and/or 180 days in jail.

Residents are asked to report incidents of illegal dumping by calling our 24- Hour Hotline at 844-WMA-USVI (844-962-8784) and reminded to ‘Put Trash in its Place!’
