VIWMA ADVISES COMMUNITY OF OVERFLOWING MANHOLE IN CHRISTIANSTED

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) Preserving Paradise team advises the community that on Thursday, November 01, 2018 at 9:00am, the LBJ Pump Station went off-line due to mechanical failure of the auxiliary diesel pump. The Authority’s staff is working to repair the pump and bring the station back online.

The Authority advises residents with compromised immune systems to avoid standing water in the vicinity of #1 King Cross and Queen Streets. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route around this potentially impacted area.

Updates on changes that may affect public health and the environment will be provided. The VIWMA Preserving Paradise team apologizes for the inconvenience and would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation.
